Long Day & Night
Tonight I am working at the Hospital so it is going to be a long day like on Friday’s when I work back to back jobs 8AM-12AM but tonight I will just work 5:30-11 Sam who works the graveyard shift gets off his other job at St Vincent’s Hospital at 10:30 so he will head over and be there to relieve me at 11:00 and he will get a good 1 hour of overtime by coming in 1 hour early. I have no problem working until Midnight on Friday’s like I do because I don’t have to be back up again at 6:00 and drive 27 miles on 4 freeways. Even Saturday’s when I work until midnight I don’t have to get up until 7:00 and the Hospital is in my neighborhood. I am also scheduled 2 nights besides my regular hours to work at the Hospital again next week. We lost our 3:30-12 person so until we hire someone new all the part time employees are trying to cover the shift the best we can. I was offered the full time job but of course I had to turn it down since I have a full time job already and I need the part time job at the Hospital. So until 4 years and 12 days when I will retire from my full time job and collect SS and a nice little retirement package I will work the 2 jobs but when I retire I will also still work part time at the Hospital. Because if I retire at 66 years old I can work as much as I want and they won’t ding my checks. Plus I will be eligible for Medicare at 65 which I will apply for even before I retire. As it is now my company pays for my medical insurance a 100% and they pay $857 a month for me. When I hit 60 it jumped from $547 to $857 and it makes no difference that I only see a Dr. once a year for my an annual physical. I have no medical issues and I never get sick. But not to have insurance is very scary healthy or not.
