I Was Tagged! |
Yesterday people were still talking about our earthquake it really made people take stock of how prepared they are. It has been 14 years since the Northridge quake and we get lax. Like I said in Tuesday’s post this weekend before work I am hitting the store to update my survival kits! Last night after work I was craving a burger so bad that I gave in and went to In-n-Out Burger OMG it was so good! And I did not feel one bit of guilt!

So Cal Rocks & Rolls Again! |
The strongest earthquake to strike a populated area of Southern California in more than a decade rattled windows and chandeliers and made buildings sway and sent people running into the streets yesterday at 11:42 AM. But there were no reports of serious injuries or major damage. The 5.4 magnitude quake considered moderate was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego, and as far east as Las Vegas, 200 miles away. The quake was centered 29 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles near Chino Hills, a San Bernardino County city. My office is very close to Chino Hills about 10 miles away, a few employees live there. We are all very thankful that no one was reported injured. When I came home I had forgotten about the earthquake and was baffled at first when I saw my pretty heavy watermelon living room lamp laying on it’s side? As I walked up my stairs I noticed pictures had fallen off the hallway walls, then I went into my bedroom and all the pictures on my computer desk had fallen down on the ground. Then it dawned on me “the earthquake”. My cats were huddled under my bed not very happy either but they finally came out after I was home awhile. It is a wake up call for everyone that has outdated survival kits as I do. I have kits in my car and home but a lot of the stuff in them like freeze dried food and first aid supplies have expired. So I will be hitting the stores this weekend to get new supplies.

Happy Tuesday! |
Last night I had my nail appointment. It is a wife and husband team that do my nails. The husband does my acrylic nails and his wife my pedicure. I did not expect to see her last night she was due the 27th to have their first baby, at my Hospital I might add. She was there and they were going to go to the Hospital to induce labor at 8:00 PM, I left at 7:00. Some work ethics huh? Working until the last minute practically! They are calling the baby girl Haley, such a cute name! She will be discharged by the time I go to work at the Hospital Friday. I am very happy for them! Her replacement was there for me to meet. She said she will be back in a month. I will only have the new girl once to give me my pedicure.

Perfect Weekend! |
When I took my car in last week to have my tires rotated they told me I needed new brakes which I had a pretty good idea since I have only replaced my brakes once in 6 1/2 years and that was 4 years ago! I did not realize I had driven over 80,000 miles on the same brakes! Paul was baffled when I told him how long it had been! Well anyway they quoted me what I thought was a pretty high price so I asked Paul what he thought and he said it was kind of high but forget about having them done, he would do them since he was in town all weekend! So he did them while I was at the X-Files movie on Saturday morning. There was a little snag he had his friend Kevin who has his own auto repair shop in South Pasadena get the brakes for us and bring them home, he lives in Burbank also. He got the wrong brakes for the back. I have discs in the front and drums in the back, so Paul called him and told him to bring the right ones home today for me to exchange and when I go down to the kids house August 21st for the weekend Paul will do the back brakes. I saved a lot of money thanks to Paul. He is such a great son!
