Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

 emoticon

Last night I got a call right before I got off work and it was Paul asking me if I was working at the Hospital that evening! I told him no,that he should meet Joe and I at the Acapulco Mexican restaurant. So that was a nice surprise to have dinner with my son also. He was in town to help Chris pick out her new windows. She was real fussy about what kind she wanted they had to be wood inside and vinyl outside so they ended up picking out windows by Anderson for the tune of $55,000 installed :yipes: Did you hear that Darylynn?? But Paul will install them for her and that will save her $15,000. $40,000 sounds a bit better. She is also having her kitchen remoldeled, my sister is going to design the new kitchen for her. She lives in a very upscale neighborhood in Toluca Lake surrounded by celebrities homes. Her house is very homey and comfortable. It was once owned by the people that own the chain of restaurants called Mimi’s Cafe that are statewide.

Holiday Tradition

 emoticon emoticon

Last night as I finished decorating and decided not to go all out like I use to seeing as this is the third Christmas the kids have not been here. It was our family Holiday tradition to have Christmas/Hanukkah at my parents until 1984 when Paul & I moved into our own place. Then we had Christmas at our place and Thanksgiving at my parents. I would go all out with the decorating every room plus Paul would put lights up outside. Then after Justin was born 14 years ago I passed the torch to Paul & Lisa. We would have Christmas Eve at my place and Christmas day at their house. I continued to go all out with the decorating until their move. I have been cutting back. It still looks festive.

“Oh Christmas Tree”

 emoticon emoticon

I worked on my Christmas tree all night while watching TV. I am a perfectionist so it has to be decorated perfectly. I will probably do a little more decorating tomorrow throughout my house. I was too tired last night. I have been beat ever since I came back from the kids house. I have been knocking out while watching my TV shows every night. We packed a lot in the 4 1/2 days I was there. Lots and lots of shopping, eating and staying up late! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can’t wait until I got back in 3 weeks!

Check In the Mail!

Yesterday I tallied up all I spent over the 4 1/2 days at the kids and was really surprised!! Way more than I planned, it is amazing how money flies, huh?? But to my complete surprise when I opened my mail there was a letter with a check in it from something called Household International and Carnegie?? It was a settlement from a class action lawsuit, so I knew I must of filled out the paperwork, I always do when I get those in the mail. I went online with the web address they gave me www.RALsuit.com and sure enough I remembered it. It was from H&R Block they did my taxes in 94′ and 96′ and I guess they overcharged people. The check was for $177.04, not bad huh?? A very nice surprise to have a check in the mail!
