“Snowmageddon”

 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

We didn’t nearly had as much rain as you would think with all the news coverage here, less than 2 inches as compared to the East with over 30 inches of snow on Saturday. Three U.S. states declared a state of emergency after a near record breaking snow storm jokingly dubbed ” Snowmageddon” in and around Washington D.C. on Saturday.

Haircut or No Haircut!

 emoticon emoticon emoticon

Last week when I got my haircut I was so wanting to have Zankou Chicken but I had taken a filet mignon out to defrost a few days earlier and had to grill it. I finally gave into my craving for Zankou, so I drove over there last night and picked dinner up right after work. Haircut or no haircut.I wanted my Zankou Chicken It was yummy!! 1/4 rotisserie chicken all white meat with hummus, garlic spread and pita to dip in the hummus. The garlic spread you dip the chicken in is to die for.

BFF

Debbie who is one of my oldest dearest friends, 47 years we have known each other, has to have rotator cuff surgery yet again. 3 years ago she had it on her right shoulder and she was off work for 4 months to rehabilitate. A few months ago her left shoulder started hurting and sure enough she has the same problem but they are saying not as major, she will only be off her 2 jobs for 6-8 weeks. She works at Warner Bros studios and has a second job like me on the weekends at my sister Hospital, Holy Cross which is close to her house like mine is. She will be having the surgery next Wednesday Feb 10th at the Motion Picture Hospital in Calabasas. So she decided to get a light perm in her hair so she will be able to just let it air dry since she won’t have use of her left arm at all for awhile. So she got her hair done at a salon near my home in Burbank last night. I decided to swing over to Starbucks after dinner and pick us up some non fat cappuccino’s and met her over at the salon while she was getting her perm. It was very nice to be able to see her before her big day next week. The two of us try to get together every month but our lives are so busy working 2 jobs 7 days a week, sometimes we go for 2 months without getting together. We did get together just 3 weeks ago. I will visit her at home if she is feeling up to it Monday Feb 15th which I am taking off as a vacation day with Sunday Feb 14th. She is very nervous about the surgery because last time she had an adverse reaction to the anesthesia when she came out of it. I am sure she will be just fine. Continue reading the story… BFF

Oscar Buzz

I did not get up to hear the Oscar nominations live at 5:00 AM yesterday but I did hear them all at 6:30 AM. I am very happy with the best actor nominations, one of the nominees being Jeff Bridges, and hope he is a shoe in like they are saying? They said that about Mickey Rourke last year who won all the best actor awards except at the Oscar’s, that went to his friend Sean Penn for Milk. I am also rooting for Sandra Bullock for best actress, Meryl Streep is nominated for the 16th time, she has Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson beat by 4 nominations, they both have had 12 nominations each. Best movies, I am not sure which one I am rooting for yet? It really isn’t that great of a list in my opinion except for maybe Ivan Reitman’s “Up in the Air” or Kathryn Bigelow ’s “Hurt Locker”. I usually see all the Oscar nominated movies. I still have a few I have not seen yet on the list. I always look forward to the Oscar’s every year. They are on Sunday March 7th and I know I will be watching them at the Hospital and running home to my DVR to see what I missed while driving home at 6:30. Thank goodness for DVR’s!
