Tonight Joe and I have back two back shows we are going to at the Uptight Citizens Brigade in Hollywood. 8:00 PM ASSSSCAT: the Upright Citizens Brigade’s improv juggernaut that has played to critical acclaim and sold out audiences in New York City for the past ten years, has landed in Los Angeles. So what exactly is ASSSSCAT? Well, it starts with a group of improv comedians currently working in film and television taking the stage accompanied by a special guest monologist. Some guest monologists are talented celebrities, others are screwed up weirdoes. Either way, they usually have great stories to tell. We take a suggestion from the audience, then the show begins. The special guest shares off-the-cuff thoughts, feelings, and personal remembrances inspired by the suggestion. The improvisers in turn use this impromptu monologue as fodder for a series of high octane, balls-to-the-wall improvised sketches that have made this show one of the longest running improv shows in the history of the world. Sounds like fun huh??

Tuesday night was a lot of fun as usual at the Doug Loves Movies podcast. Doug and his guests know even more than I do when it comes to movies and I am a BIG movie buff let me tell you! Jeff Garlin of the HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasm, actor and producer of the show which is one of my favorites shows on TV with Larry David (Seinfeld show writer and creater) was suppose to be a guest on Tuesday but he had to cancel because he was meeting Michelle Obama who was in So Cal on Tuesday and Wednesday. I knew 2 out of the 3 guests listed and pictures below:

Justin and Tiffany came back late Sunday night. They loved San Francsico but did not like Oakland much. That was were Supercross was and they had to park many blocks away and walk thru the town to get there. They said the neighborhood was scary and that they won’t go back to Supercross there ever again. When they got back to their car they saw several cars that had been broken into. Glass from the windows was all over the place. But other than that they had a lot of fun in San Francsico. They took the Alcatraz tour and of course they had to go to Ghirardelli Square to check out the Ghirardelli Chocolate Shop.

My weekend was uneventful. I just worked. I did watch a great DVD Margin Call an independent film, written and directed by J.C. Chandor. The film has an ensemble cast that includes Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, and Penn Badgley. The film takes place over a 36-hour period at a large investment bank (loosely modeled on Lehman Brothers) and focuses on the financial crisis of 2007–2008. Great movie and what a cast! I highly recommend it. To Big To Fail an HBO movie was also excellent. It chronicled the financial meltdown of 2008 and centers on Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. Very shocking how much we were in the dark about how bad the financial meltdown really was at the time. The effects that will be felt for many many more years to come.
